About
VENCO is a small, privately owned Australian company that has been producing pottery equipment since 1971. We have sold over 35,000 pottery wheels and more than 8500 pugmills. We design and manufacture all of our equipment and market mainly to Europe, Australia, Asia and North America. The vast majority of our wheels are still in service, many over 30 years old.
Our factory is completely powered by alternative energy. We have a large wind turbine in our parking lot that generates our own electricity. Yes this is more costly, however we feel this is important. We also only use more expensive, plantation timber for packing rather than rainforest harvested timber.
ABOUT OUR COMMITMENT
We pride ourselves on manufacturing very high-quality equipment. We are not interested in producing cheap, low or average quality gear. We believe that if a customer buys a pugmill, that this unit should serve them well for 20+ years. We will also ensure that we can supply parts for this machine for this time and more. If we do not have a spare part in stock, we will make it for them. We also believe that spare parts should be low cost if they are ever are needed. We warrant all our gear for three years and stand behind this firmly. Simple, obvious, differences between our gear and competition is the materials used – we use high purity, marine grade aluminum for the pugmill barrels on the Mk2 range of pugs , this lasts at least 20years – the competition use ordinary aluminum which will corrode, pit and contaminate clay in 5-10 years. We use stainless steel barrel hardware – because we know what happens to 10-year-old zinc plated steel bolts that our competition uses. All our steel frames are electroplated and then powder coated…the competition simply powder coats on-top of the mild steel which lifts and looks terrible in 5+ years. Our augers are supported in a separate casting with double O-ring seals…the competition simply mounts the auger directly onto the gearbox face.
