Venco’s most advanced wheel, the Direct-drive, uses a state-of-the-art motor and control system. The brushless, permanent magnet motor, with its exceptionally smooth power band, produces enormous amounts of torque…even at low speeds.

The motor directly drives the wheel head, which minimizes the number of rotating parts for a maintenance-free, efficient operation without belts or pulleys.

A built-in computer senses the actual amount of power required and automatically varies the motor torque to hold the wheel head precisely at the desired speed.

The Venco Direct-drive is the only potter’s wheel on the market with a “wireless” foot pedal. The remotely controlled foot pedal allows greater flexibility by removing the constraint of the electric cord…an obvious trip-hazard from the studio. The pedal can be operated easily by hand which is a significant feature while throwing large pieces. An easy-clean touch-pad on the side of the wheel adds versatility to the speed control. An optional, conventionally cabled foot pedal, is also available.

The Direct-drive may be assembled in three configurations.
a) standard sit-down
b) table-top /floor
c) stand-up. (OPTIONAL)

The wheel comes standard with a very generously sized, fixed tray die-cast from marine-grade aluminum for high strength and durability. The 300mm (13″) wheel head, also cast from corrosionresistant marine-grade aluminum, is fitted with bat pins. Optional-clip on tray tables, made from durable marine-grade plywood, add usable space. A riser bat is also available to raise the wheel head above the level of the tray rim.

The Direct-drive, designed with two legs under the wheel head, provides the greatest stability where needed. Like the tray, the body and legs which are made from heavy-duty ,brushed finish, stainless steel, will stand the test of time in any school or studio.

The structure of the body and tray are guaranteed for 10 years.
